We Honor

With each labyrinth we lay we honor those that have come before, the land in which we are collaborating with now, and those that will come after us.

Our Deepest Thanks & Gratitude go to...

While these are the current people holding this project, I (Eva) would be remiss if I didn't give thanks to other people that have been involved in all different steps and stages of this work.

Doug VanNiel - for introducing this form to me at a young age.

Lea Goode Harris - for designing the Santa Rosa labyrinth that I later got married in.

My mother Amy - for always saying yes to laying another one on our home and instilling a love and respect for the land.

My grandmother Holly - for always being willing to find more wood, even if you don't know how we are laying the thing out.

Desiree Mwalimu-Banks - for reminding me about this form in my second semester of graduate studies and planting the smallest of seeds for this process. For also inviting me to witness the ritual housework you were a part of as well that birthed another seed of possibility in me. You are a priestess of inspiration!

Petra Kuppers - for guiding my Laying Labyrinths Practicum work.

Lars Howlett and the Veriditas Community - for creating open-source online content throughout the pandemic to share this form easily with others all over the world! Look them up.

Kendra DeMicco-Lovins, Deen Elyas Harris, Ben Hennsey, Rosie McInnis, and Julie Frazier-Smith for being in conversation via zoom, email, text, and Whatsapp voice memos. My conversations with each of you shaped this work!

For my G3 & G4 advising groups, and Goddard workshop friends, y'all's questions and willingness to be my guinea pigs gave me the confidence this might be something to continue to dig into!

Erica Eaton - for encouraging me to always keep giving myself permission to break the thing, even if it's my expensive ass wool socks.

To the Labyrinth Betches, thank you for saying yes to walking into this unknown place with me. It's been such a journey and I'm so thankful that we are on it together.

For each twig, stone, acorn, leaf, pinecone, piece of chalk, birdseed, and log thank you for creating sacred spaces with me to honor the land, honor the present moment, and give space to just let us be!

Finally, to my love, Brian, the man behind the camera, who gently found a reading spot at many of these places, and blessed me with his patience as I began this laying practice. Your willingness to keep taking each walk with me and each step with me leaves me speechless. Thank you for entering that labyrinth with me a long time ago!
